Toxic Baby Shampoo Can Cause Cancer!
Baby Shampoo contains toxic chemicals that are known to cause cancer. Johnson and Johnson publically admitted they have been harming our kids for years by intentionally, knowingly, and willfully continuing to market baby products, including baby shampoo and body wash, with known carcinogens.
Johnson and Johnson has knowingly and willfully deceived the American people. The reason I say that is, Johnson and Johnson distributed versions of these same products, without the toxins, in other countries that banned the toxic chemicals. Unfortunately the US wasn’t one of them. You might want to know why!
The personal care industry in the United States is unregulated. The 1938 Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act brought the cosmetic industry under the regulatory jurisdiction of the FDA however The FDA has come to rely heavily on the cosmetic industry to regulate itself in order to ensure consumer safety. Ever since, these companies have been able to market products with toxins in them because it is cheaper for them. And Hey! The bottom line is far more important than the health of their customers. What with clever marketing and all that, they can continue to market to children and adults who don’t know any better. I mean after all, we do keep making more babies for them to poison every year. But now you know.
1.4 – Dioxane
So, if you happen to be a parent who’s using these products, take a look at the label. You’ll see how many products there are that you cannot even pronounce right. As an example, 1.4-dioxane is the main toxin present in these products. Unfortunately 1,4-dioxane is not listed on ingredient labels. It is a petroleum-derived contaminant formed in the manufacture of shampoos, body wash, children’s bath products and other sudsing cosmetics.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has ranked it as a possible carcinogen, and the National Toxicology Program (NTP) has identified it as a reasonably anticipated carcinogen. Hence, the Environmental Protection Agency linked it with skin irritation, headaches, drowsiness, liver damage, and vertigo.
Moreover, quartenium-15 is a well-known carcinogen present in the company’s baby shampoo which is known to release formaldehyde, a harmful chemical which causes skin irritation over time.
What does EWG do?
EWG is a non profit, non-government controlled organization that reviews products for toxicity and harmful chemicals and maintains a comprehensive data base of common household products. It is a great resource. Check out your favorite cosmetics then make the switch to organics.
The conclusion is obvious, not all skin care products are safe, even those labeled for and intended for your baby. Check the EWG database for your cosmetics and act accordingly. For example here is a link to the Johnson baby shampoo listing on EWG: Johnson Baby Shampoo.
While you are at it, check out the other products you have in your home, in your bathroom and under your sink. You will be shocked at what you find.
Toxins and our environment
Since 1985, over 20,000 new chemicals have been introduced and are soaking our environment, our children and you. And yes! the FDA and EPA allow it. These industries are, to a great extent, unregulated. To learn more about toxins in your home and body and your children, check out The Toxic Truth. The magnitude of the problem will astound you.
